Does Our "Over Thinking" Cause Major Health Problems?

Over the weekend, my mother had to be taken to the emergency room for her blood pressure, which was 170/118, which is extremely high. Typically, my mother is a pretty healthy person. She is the one that encouraged me to stop eating meat, and to take my health more seriously, since I spend most of the day sitting while I work. For Christmas, she went to the extent to purchase a Nordictrack bicycle for us to both stay in better shape during the colder months. I'm painting this picture so you can begin to understand where I'm going with this.

On Saturday, she just felt something wasn't right, and decided to get her blood pressure checked at one of those setups you see at Walgreens or CVS. If it wasn't for her paying attention to that weird feeling, we don't know what would have happened.

After all the blood test, loss of sleep from waiting for hours to be seen and evaluated, the results turned out inconclusive. They couldn't find anything wrong with her. She took a pill that dropped her blood pressure down instantly, and was sent home.

As my mother and I talked about what could have caused it, we came to the conclusion there where 2 factors. One was stress from work and family members, the other was from consuming teas that had caffeine in it such as Black Chai tea, which is something she started drinking 2 weeks ago.

I wanted to share this so we as women will pay more attention to our health, and what we choose to think about. Even the most fit people who eat nothing but organic foods, and use gluten, paraben free or all natural body products, still suffer from illnesses. Why is that? My conclusion is OVER THINKING, which results in fear, stress, anxiety, heartache, stomach ailments, hair loss, weight gain, and so on.

From my personal experience, I can attest to this from my experience with a painful stomach issue I had back in 2009. I went to the extent of changing my diet, eating smaller meals, drinking aloe juice, and trying all these different things that never really solved the issue entirely, it just soothed it. It wasn't until the week in the beginning of 2010 that I quit my job, cut my hair, and ended a 2.5 year relationship, that all of a sudden my stomach pains went away immediately. I even lost 20lbs. two months later. This all goes to show you that even with the proper diets and exercise, you still need to work on you mind. The mind is a powerful thing, and if left to run rapid about our past, what others have done to us, and whatever else it can come up with to distract you, it will lead to major health problems.

Over the years, I've learned different ways to help maintain my stress levels, but most importantly, recognize the signs when it is starting to get out of control.

Here's a list of a few things that has helped me relieve stress over the years:
  • Reading spiritual books.
  • Going for a walk outside, if the weather permits.
  • Going to a spa like JeJu Sauna, which is really affordable, and a great way to detox the body.
  • Learning how to sit still to quiet all the over thinking, and breathe.
  • Quiet the thoughts toward others and myself.
  • Go on a yearly vacation.
  • Hang out with a friend.
  • Go to a part of town I've never been, or a coffee shop and read.
  • Volunteer or do something for someone I know.

What are you doing to relieve stress?

Why do we allow fear to run the show in our minds?

Fear, fear... Oh how you come disguised popping into our minds as a solution to run havoc in our lives, when you are really only reminding us of all our problems and how it makes us feel uneasy. Why do we choose you over faith when you are both things unseen? When one brings us unnecessary pain if we choose to sulk in it and the other lightens our load if we let go of what we can't change and trust God's process. We all have things we fear but the question is will it solve anything if it does not involve a solution. What are you allowing fear to stop in your life today? If you are entertaining fear, ask yourself what am I so afraid will happen if what I feared actually occured. The bigger question is suppose what I fear never happens, than what? Something to chew on. Have a fabulous Saturday! KL

Time Does Not Heal Everything. Acceptance Will Heal Everything!

Wow...How simple, yet true! Most of us are waiting on "time" to heal things to avoid pain. Somehow we've come to believe that running away is the solution and it will fix things, but it never does. The things we run from always have a way of running right back around full circle in another shape or form for us to face. When situations repeatedly occur with different faces, that is your sign that you need to address them or it will get worse. I'm coming to a place where I believe that God or whatever you prefer to relate to, wants you to face yourself in the situation to truly SEE you. Seeing you could mean not blaming, forgiving, letting go, choosing to love anyway, all while gaining MORE WISDOM. The key here is gaining more wisdom to avoid you from repeating the same actions that are causing these situations to occur. Until we face them we will continue that cycle until we face it by being still and accepting what is in order to truly see us and the path we are suppose to be on.

If you're questioning your Life's Purpose - Watch this Video!

If you're questioning life - why you are here, why is this happening to me, I'm not sure if I can make it through the day or just simply feeling broken in any shape or form, I ask that you stop for a moment and sit still. You are not a mistake for there are no mistakes in this world, not even you. I'm coming to a place of realizing that our "mistakes" only help direct us closer to our truth, that is if we choose to "be still" enough to listen. Being still can be reached through prayer, mediation, being in nature, silence from the world through email, phone, music or social media. The scripture says, "Be still and know that I am God". If you're still enough, you'll connect with God within you, but you must still the mind first in order for this connect.

I know everyone is seeking their purpose to feel like their life has meaning. What if our true and only purpose is to Seek God 1st in ALL we do before our truth or purpose is revealed for that day or moment? What if? Food for thought...

Oprah Life Class: How do we get a better life based on what we believe?

One of the things I enjoy doing on my off time is watching inspirational videos or listening to positive audio on youtube. Oprah happens to be one of the people on my list of many, that I enjoy listening to keep inspired through out my day. I believe that it is vital that we find things to ingest taht inspire us on a daily basis. Positive words, video audio are similar to breathing oxygen, you can't live without it.

The mission Oprah is on to inspire people to see beyond what their present circumstance appears to be is so inspiring and encouraging. I believe we're all here to encourage and inspire others by the way we choose to live our lives, which is the best way to teach others.

In this video, Oprah talks about how what we believe affects the outcome of what we live. What do you believe? Do you believe you are worthy of happiness, success, fulfillment, love and abundance? You will manifest the life you believe in your mind outwardly into your physical life. If you allow fear or anxiety to be your belief, your life will be nothing but thoughts and circumstances filled with fear.

One of my favorite bible verses says,

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

If you're feeling discouraged or lacking faith, I hope this video shows you that all us, including the people that Oprah interviewed, from Jim Carey, Ralph Lauren to JK Rowling, have all been in a low place. What sets them apart is what they chose to believe regardless of how their lives appeared and remembered to never give up hope. Faith is the assurance of things Hoped for...So we gotta start with hope and follow through with action, for faith without works is dead.

Enjoy the video!
