Easy tip to clean your makeup pencil sharpeners

I know if I suffer with the issue of my makeup pencils product clogging up my pencil sharpener, I'm sure other people experience the same problem. In the past, I've tried using q-tips, but it made things worse by pressing the product further down into the other end, making it more difficult to remove. One of my biggest issues was when I tried to sharpen a different color pencil, and the color from the previous pencil would transfer, and get all over it.

A simple way to thoroughly clean out the pencil sharpener is by using a disposable mascara wand or a used one for those who don't have a need to purchase a large batch of wands. I find that Dawn works best for cutting through grease, as well as makeup. Start by applying a small amount of Dawn to the wand and water to help the soap lather up, and brush it back and forth through both openings, where you insert the pencil, and where the shavings come out. Rinse with water, and repeat until there is no more makeup visible. Viola! Now you have a clean pencil sharpener.

Sorry that the color did not remotely pick up with the sparkles, as it does in person.

I have to say it's interesting watching pro's apply makeup, verses other youtube makeup artist. I have come to realize that there is a difference, depending on the person, and their skill set of what they specialize in. Some people love the heavy coverage and dramatic looks, and some people, like myself, love the more natural magazine look, where you can't tell you're wearing makeup besides on your eyes and lips.

In this video, Charlotte Tilbury gives a great example of how to line your eyes. What I like about it is she actually layers the eyeliner for the evening time, since there's a chance of sweating. She layers it with a pencil liner first, and then she goes over it with Maybelline gel liner to seal in the look. Recently, I've been doing this layering technique after watching youtube videos of makeup enthusiast and artist that attended Makeup by Mario's recent makeup master class with Kim Kardasian. That is the one constant thing I heard from all the youtubers, which is layering to seal in the look. It makes sense for me since my eyeliner has had the tendency to crack and chip off before the end of the night. Since I've been using an NYC Kohl eyeliner and Maybelline gel liner or NYC liquid eyeliner, I've totally noticed the difference!

I hope this helps someone else who is wanting to learn how to apply their eyeliner to create more of a sensual/edgy editorial/magazine makeup look.

MUA TIPS: How to get rid of dry cracked lips

I've experience this quite a few times on location, where my client has dry, chapped lips. There was no way I could apply lipstick on top of it without bringing even more attention to peeling skin on their lips.

In this video, I share a quick tip on how to treat cracked, peeling, dry lips during a makeup session. I would like to recommend this as an option before applying foundation, since oil is involved in the process, to avoid rubbing off your foundation.

Also, please take caution when dealing with cold sores, and severely open wounded/cracked lips. This option may not apply, and could only worsen the condition. Also, remember to always ask your client to let you know when it gets too sensitive during the process.
